Meet Melbourne Board-Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Anita Saluja

While growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Dr. Saluja completed her college education when she was only 15 years old, with a bachelors degree in mathematics. She then transitioned from studying numbers to studying medicine. She earned her medical degree at the age of 20 from The University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and she was a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After her internship, Dr. Saluja received three years of dermatology specialty training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, helping her become an expert dedicated to skin. Additionally, she is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology since 2001. Dr. Saluja is also an Assistant Volunteer Professor at the University of Central Florida School of Medicine.

Dr. Saluja has gained extensive experience and a quiet confidence, practicing dermatology as it relates to skin cancer, melanoma, dermatology surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Saluja particularly enjoys the skill and artistry involved in combining multiple skin injectables and the customization of skin care & complexion improvement plans. She believes in the continuing education of herself and her team. Dr. Saluja and her patient care team have a common goal and that goal is to help you achieve your best skin. Dr. Saluja is a working mother of two and, additionally, enjoys being involved in her Brevard County community – ask her about her latest community outreach activities!

Frequently Asked Questions of Dr. Saluja:

What information would you like to impart to patients?

It’s important to go to a specialist. Cosmetically oriented dermatologists such as myself can take care of your preventive, surgical, and aesthetic skin issues. There is so much overlap in dermatology because health and anti-aging are intertwined. For example, laser resurfacing will improve wrinkles and spots, as well as sun-induced pre-cancerous lesions called actinic keratoses.

What is your philosophy when it comes to cosmetic procedures?

Everything should be done in moderation. Moisturize but don’t over moisturize, fill but don’t overfill, use Botox® but don’t go too far. My patients do not want to look “done.” They want to look like they were born lucky! In addition to refreshed, natural results, my goal is to make procedures as pain-free and fun as possible.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I most enjoy long-term patient relationships and formulating a “skin game plan” with my patients, then seeing it through. Of course, I also love working with Dr. Novo and our team.

How would patients characterize you?

Approachable, with a warm smile. They would also say I am smart, hardworking, an expert in my field, and sometimes funny.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

I received my Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at age 15 and my medical degree at age 20. Personally, I am proud of my two children!

How are you experienced in injectable treatments?

I am in the top 1 percent of all injectors in the United States. #1 Volume Botox®, Juvederm®, & Sculptra® injector in all of Central Florida.

What is the biggest misconception about my field?

That years of skin aging can be transformed in an exceptionally short period of time with minimal effort

How has your profession evolved?

Combination treatments that help patients turn back time by combining science, art, skin care, lights, lasers, and injectables are being done more frequently.

What are your most requested procedures?

Injectables! Botox® and Dysport® are popular because the treatments are quick and have no downtime. Also popular are skin filler procedures using a micro-cannula technique for minimal discomfort, minimal recovery, and more safety. My favorite fillers are Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Restylane® Lyft, and Juvéderm® Voluma because of how I can help improve facial shape in a natural-looking way by replacing lost volume and enhancing cheek structure. I often use a special technique called BeautiPHIcationTM.

What’s an exciting new skin treatment?

Medical microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), growth factors, or radiofrequency is becoming very popular with our patients. It’s safe skin rejuvenation for any skin type with no downtime!

New injectables are coming to the market each year, which is also exciting.

My aestheticians’ favorite treatment is dermaplaning facials. Our patients glow after.

What is the most memorable thing you have learned?

That the doctor-patient relationship is special and we need to actively work together to keep it that way.
